Root Canal

Before Procedure:

Please have food before coming to the clinic for any dental procedure.

After Procedure:

    1. The effect of local anesthesia starts wearing off one hour after the procedure. So it is important that the patient takes prescribed painkiller medications (and antibiotics if any) after one hour of the procedure; so that by the time the effect of anesthesia wears off, the effect of pain killer tablet start kicking in.
    2. It is usual and common for the patient to experience mild, dull aching pain after root canal treatment which may take 7 to 10 days to fully wear off
    3. In case of sharp excruciating pain, please report back to the clinic
    4. It is always advisable to have a cap (crown) placed on the root canal treated tooth to increase its longevity.

After Procedure:

  4. Do not apply Iodex/balm or any hot fomentation at the surgical site or from outside. Instead apply ice packs (cold fomentation) from outside to reduce pain and swelling.
  5. Do not gargle at the site of surgery for 24 hours.
  6. In case of excessive pain or bleeding observed 2 hours after the surgery, please call and report to the clinic.
  7. If any stiches (sutures) have been placed, please report 7 days later for removal of stitches.

Fixed Dentures on Implants

After Procedure:

  1. Veneers are glued on to the teeth and therefore delicate. So patient has to take care that the Veneers do not come off, by avoiding three kinds of food.
  2. #Avoid all hard food like nuts, grains, toast, sugarcane,
  3. #Avoid all sticky foods like chewing-gum, chocolates.
  4. #Do not use your front teeth for biting into fruits or non-veg which may cause Veneers on the front teeth to come off. Such types of foods which need biting from front teeth need to be cut into small pieces and eaten with the back teeth using spoon/fork.

 

  1. While avoiding the above foods, the regular quantity of your regular diet is to be maintained. Veneers do not come off by eating vegetables, sprouts, chapatis (Indian bread), rice, desserts.

Brushing in the morning and at night before bed time is a minimum requirement.

    After Procedure:

    1. Braces are glued on to the teeth and therefore delicate. So patient has to take care that the braces do not come off, by avoiding three kinds of food.
    2. Avoid all hard food like nuts, grains, toast, sugarcane,
    3. Avoid all sticky foods like chewing-gum, chocolates which may get entangled in the braces.
    4. Do not use your front teeth for biting into fruits or non-veg which may cause braces on the front teeth to get entangled in the food and come off. Such types of foods which need biting from front teeth need to be cut into small pieces and eaten with the back teeth using spoon/fork.

    2. Every time the patient eats something, some food particles will get stuck in the braces. So ideally the patient is required to brush at least 3 times a day, after each meal.

    1. Please also brush just before coming for your monthly braces appointment, so that the doctor gets a clean oral cavity to work on.
    2. Normal brushes can also be used. However, your doctor may prescribe you special orthodontic brushes for braces.
    3. It is normal to expect mild pain / ulceration in the first one week after having braces. In one week the body gets used to the braces and the discomfort / pain wears off gradually.

    • Mouth guards need to be stored in clean water when not in use. 
    • They need to be cleaned regularly using a brush & soap water.
    • Mouth guards may need to be replaced every year as the shape of teeth & bone changes gradually over time.
